The Glenariff Beef Shorthorn Herd
The Glenariff Herd was established in 1987 by Nick and his wife Annalain at South Wootton, near King's Lynn, Norfolk. The herd was founded with just four carefully selected maiden heifers, two from the renowned Fingask Herd in Fife and two from the distinguished Glenisla Herd in Perthshire. From these foundation females, the Barretts developed what would become the highly regarded Glenariff Beef Shorthorn Herd.
Named after the beautiful Glenariff Valley in Northern Ireland, the herd has been built on a commitment to pedigree breeding, sound maternal traits, structural correctness, and the production of high-quality beef cattle. Over the years, the herd has expanded steadily through careful selection and home breeding, with every generation reflecting the Barretts' dedication to preserving and improving the traditional qualities of the Beef Shorthorn breed.
